REGISTRATION OF PATENT
1. Grant of Patent 
    If the examiner does not find any ground to reject a patent application, he/she shall make a decision to grant patent and
    issue a notice thereon. 

2. Payment of Registration Fee
    The 1st ~ 3rd year annuities shall be paid as the registration fee within three (3) months from the date of grant of patent. If
    the above time limit to pay the registration fee passes, there is a grace period of six (6) months within which the registration 
    fee can be paid, but in that case, the registration fee to be paid is doubled. 

3. Issuance of the Certificate of Patent Registration 
   When a patent is registered with payment of the registration fee, the certificate of patent registration shall be issued. The 
   patent right shall enter into effect upon establishment of registration there of.
PATENT TERM
- 20 years from the publication date for patent applications filed during July 1, 1986 ~ August 31, 1990
- 15 years from the publication date, but no more than 20 years from the application date for patent applications filed during 
  September 1, 1990 ~ June 30, 1996
- 20 years from the application date for patent applications filed after July 1, 1996
- Only, under the new law, the paten term for the applications filed during July 1, 1987 ~ August 31, 1990 may be 15 years
  from the publication date or 20 years from the application date, whichever is longer. And, the paten term for the applications
  filed after September 1, 1990 is 20 years from the application date. 
- Further, the patent term for agrochemical and pharmaceutical patents can be extended up to five (5) years for the period that 
  the patents could not have been practiced to satisfy certain regulatory requirements.
